ABOUT:

After graduating with a degree in photography and design, I caught the travel bug and went on a series of adventures around the world taking photos with progressively better cameras until I had too much photography gear to be covered by any travel insurance.

I mostly shot with film whilst away despite owning digital cameras, partly because the digital quality hadn’t yet caught up with film and partly because rolls of 36 frames are taken much more preciously than memory cards full of hundreds of pictures. Away for years at a time, I refined my technique and style until I was ready to commit to staying in one place.

Since settling down in the town of my birth (London), I have been shooting mostly commercial photography for a wide selection of clients including blue chip companies and renowned not-for-profit organisations. I’m constantly striving to push the boundaries within the remit of the brief and deliver results exceeding the client’s expectations

Hyde Park Timelapse from Darren Ruane Photography on Vimeo. Timelapse sequences shot in London’s Hyde Park & Kensington Gardens. It’s the second outing with my motorised rail, still a few teething problems, but certainly an improvement on the first outing where I discarded about half of the shot footage during the editing process. Featuring the Serpentine, Henry Moore’s Arch and the Italian Garden. The Arch is a six-metre high Roman […]
